OBJECTIVE 

To know about how electromagnets work and about their properties. I too learnt a lot from this activity conducted in our class.

What is an electromagnet?

An electromagnet is a temporary magnet which keeps it magnetic property till electricity flows or the circuit is closed.

MATERIALS REQUIRED TO MAKE AN ELECTROMAGNET:-

  • Battery

  • Iron nail

  • Copper Wire 

  • Any metallic object.

PROCEDURE:-

  1. Coil the iron nail with copper wire.

  2. Remove a bit of the insulation from both the ends of the wire and attach it to the battery.

  3. Bring the iron nail which is coiled and attached to a battery near a metallic object.

  4. You will see that the metallic object is getting attracted toward the iron nail.

  5. This is because of the iron nail getting magnetized.

It works on the MAGNETIC EFFECT OF ELECTRIC CURRENT.

How can you increase the power of an electromagnet?

  • Increasing the number of coils.

  • Decreasing the distance between the coils.

WHAT IS ELECTROMAGNET?

IT IS THE TYPE OF MAGNET IN WHICH THE MAGNETIC FIELD IS PRODUCED BY AN ELECTRIC CURRENT.

OBJECTIVE:

AS WE KNOW THAT WE MADE ELECTROMAGNET IN THE CLASS ALSO.  I LEARNED MANY THINGS FROM  THIS ACTIVITY.  WE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A TEMPORARY MAGNET.  THEY ONLY ATTRACT TO METALLIC SUBSTANCE.

MATERIALS REQUIRED TO MAKE AN ELECTROMAGNET:-

  • COPPER WIRE { INSULATED OR COATED }
  • A LARGE IRON NAIL
  • SOME METALLIC OBJECTS
  • D-CELL BATTERY

HOW DOES AN ELECTROMAGNET WORKS ?

  1. WHEN ELECTRIC CURRENT RUNS THROUGH A WIRE  IT  GENERATES A MAGNETIC FIELD AROUND IT.
  2. BY WOUNDING A COIL AROUND IT CAUSES  A STRONGER MAGNET.
  3. IT BECOMES STRONGER BY ATTACHING AN IRON BAR AND THIS IS HOW THERE IS A BIG EFFECT ON ELECTROMAGNET.
  4. ONCE THE ELECTROMAGNET BECOMES STRONGER [ ATTACHING IRON BAR ]  ABD STARTS ATTRACTING  THE METALLIC SUBSTANCE  AROUND IT.

OBJECTIVE:

SOLAR CAR

OBJECTIVES :-

There are many benefits of solar car like :-

  1. It is renewable and a clean energy source
  2. there is modest available power
  3. there is no energy costs
  4. no pollution as the car will run with solar energy

WHAT IS SOLAR CAR ?

A solar car is a car that works with the help of sunlight. It is only used for land transport and it is renewable source.

MATERIALS REQUIRED TO MAKE A SOLAR CAR :

  1. 3 wheels
  2. a solar panel
  3. a board
  4. an axle / small rod
  5. a motor
  6. 2 wires
  7. alligator clips
  8. double tape

PROCEDURE :-

  • first , put the 2 wheels on the long axle and 1 in the short one
  • cut out a small gap for the wheel in front of the car
  • stick the axles on the board at the back, making the wheels stick out.
  • stick the motor on the board at the back next to the wheel in the front
  • Then , stick a solar panel n top of the board and attach the wires to it using the alligator clips
  • stick the solar panel onto the board

SLUGTERRA THE IMAGINARY WORLD

This is the imaginary world beneath are feat called as slugterra.

In this world there are magical creatures known as slugs. They have super magical power by which they transform on catching the speed of 100 miles per hour.

Here are some tips of training the slugs.

  • You require a blaster by which you can shoot the slugs.
  • Then, load the slug in middle of the blaster.
  • Then, press the trigger.

After shooting, whenever the slug will catch the speed of 100 miles per hour, it will transform and out your opponent from the battle field.

 An electromagnet is a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by an electric current. The magnetic field disappears when the current is turned off. Electromagnets usually consist of insulated wire wound into a coil.

ADVANTAGES                                                                                                                                                   The main advantage of an electromagnet over a permanent magnet is that the magnetic field can be quickly changed by controlling the amount of electric current in the winding.

THIS IS THE PROCEDURE TO MAKE SOLAR CAR –

 

  • THIS WAS JUST A PROJECT WHAT IF WE USE SOLAR CAR AS VEHICLE IN THE FUTURE .

WE KNOW SOLAR CAR IS BEING USED THESE DAYS BUT IN A VERY  SMALL RANGE.

A solar vehicle is an electric vehicle powered completely or significantly by direct solar energy. Usually, photovoltaic cells contained in solar panels convert the sun’s energy directly into electric energy.

we had performed a activity regarding the solar car

  • first find a  D C MOTOR , A BASE , THREE WHEELS  , TWO WIRES  , SOLAR PANEL .
  • NOW TAKE THE BASE AND ATTACH IT TO THE GAP NEAR THE FRONT TIRE .
  • JOIN THE WHEELS TO IT .
  • CONNECT THE SOLAR PANEL ABOVE .
  • ATTACH THE WIRES AS NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE TERMINALS .
  • CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS FIRST .
  • LEAVE IT IN THE SUN AND WATCH IT MOVE  !!!!!!!!!!!! .

 CAUTION !  :  THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD BE DONE IN THE PRESENCE OF THE sun
